Re: Simmer 2010
La nouvelle SCRace 2010 est en ligne sur le site Simmer : http://www.simmerstyle.com/2010sail/Def ... odelNr=117" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
La voile incorpore bien le système adopté sur la Gaastra Vapor et nommé par Simmer "INTEGRATED CLEW CUT OUT" : Improves the aerodynamics in the clew whilst still retaining the positive effects which the CCO offer.
INTRODUCTION
This year we have been more aggressive than ever before with our research and development of the new SCR. What we present to you here is the result of countless hours of R&D work, in-numerous prototypes and hundreds of days of testing.
Our goal is to design and manufacture a race sail with the highest top end speed, the fastest acceleration, the highest angle of attack and with the best control and the widest wind range in the world. We know that a product is only as strong as it’s weakest link, and therefor we’ll take no shortcuts.
With us we have three of the most devoted top PWA slalom sailors to test, develop. evaluate and improve. They spend their entire year crossing the globe, competing, testing and developing our top end race machine. Alberto Menegatti, Sylvain and Benoit Moussilmani will never be satisfied, they´ll fine tune and trim every last detail, all the way across the starting line.
The new SCR presents the optimal symmetry between aerodynamics, material selection and design. A symmetry defined by our goal, to create the best Competition Race sail in the world.
We are pleased to bring you the 2010 SCR. Tomas Persson - Chief Designer
NEW :
The new 2010 SCR has a improved wind range as well as more explosive acceleration thanks to the more compact aspect ratio. A
major key factor is the lighter feeling in your hands which combined with more stability makes the SCR super controllable even at high speeds or in the critical moment in a jibe you feel almost nothing in your hands. “ - Alberto Menegatti ITA-4

LocalSailing http://localsailing.nl//index.php/news/ ... -Style-SCR
LocalSailing : What is the effect of the integrated clew and how do you feel this in practice?
Sylvain : The integrated clew offers many positive attributes such as better handling and more power. A shorter boom is also stiffer which effectively generates faster acceleration whilst also making it lighter and stronger. You will see the difference in the sail profile in the lower sail body, where you will have a better negative shape due to the improved leech tension between the two lower battens.
LocalSailing : Looking at the PWA 63 slalom rule, what sails sizes are you going to use? And in combination with what board size and brand.
Sylvain : Tomas Persson, Benoit Moussilmani and I have invested of countless hours of R&D work to find the optimal combination between board and sail size :
Starboard 131 / SCR 9,5 / 8,6
Starboard 111 / SCR 8,6 / 7,8 / 7,0
Starboard 086 / SCR 7,0 / 6,2 / 5,5

Le danois Kurosh Kiani DEN-13 avec la SCR 2010 à Maui : http://www.simmerstyle.com/news/Default.aspx?newsNr=664" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"I have been on Maui for a bit more than a week now, and it has just been a good startup. I came over here with all the new SCR sails all of them brand new and never unwrapped. After a week of sailing, nearly all the sails have been on the water and I can just say that i am happy for them.
I started off with two days of high wind action sailing with maxed 5,5. It was kind of hard coming from a winter break and jumping directly into nuking conditions, but now it just seems like easy cruising sailing with the bigger sails.
The next few days, I had the 6,2 on the water. It instantly became my favorite sail as i could feel the smooth power transforming into acceleration when sailing. Not bad!. And as always, handling and camber rotation was not an issue here. One new addition is the light technora top which makes the sail feel light in your hands especially when sailing in choppier conditions.
Then some days of smoother winds made it possible to sail with 7,0 and 7,8. Last year the 7,8 was my favorite sail, and now I get the same feeling, just with that smooth accelerating feeling that you just love in the sail.
Since then the 7,0 has been my most used sail, and testing against other guys shows that this and all the sail sizes are well competitive with good speed and acceleration.
I am looking forward to more testing on the new SCR sails during the next many weeks.
Aloha!
Kurosh Kiani"
