Witchcraft est un atelier de custom installé à Fuerteventura depuis plus de 15 ans dont le shaper est Bouke Becker. La marque est renommée pour la qualité de construction de ses planches et le développement de ses shapes, avec la mise au point notamment d’un nouveau rail et d’un système de tri-fin. Sous la demande croissante de customs, Witchcraft a développé des planches de série en 2007, qui sont désormais distribuées en France.

"Bien que présente en France de manière plutôt confidentielle, la marque canarienne Witchcraft Sailboards fait pourtant des émules dans notre hexagone avec un concept trifin (3 ailerons) éprouvé depuis quelques années déjà. Faisant évoluer ses shapes étape par étape, le shaper maison Bouke Becker propose en ce début d’année deux évolutions de ces deux modèles de série avec la Wave V3.0 et la Chakra V2.0.
Pur flotteur de vagues, la Wave V3.0 dispose d’un rocker un plus important et de rails plus progressifs afin de privilégier la maniabilité en surf ? Ce modèle sera proposé en 13 volumes différents de 63 à 114 litres ainsi que deux constructions.
Plus orientée freestyle wave, la Chakra V2.0 profite elle aussi du même développement avec une recherche vers plus de maniabilité en surf sans perdre pour autant en départ au planing et vitesse. Deux nouveaux volumes font leur apparition en 71 et 114 litres et ce sont là aussi quelques 8 volumes et deux constructions qui sont au rendez-vous avec la possibilité de naviguer un ou trois ailerons au choix."

"After a full year of testing the durability and functionality of the flextail we now are ready to offer flex tails on custom boards. We developed ways to adjust the flex to riders weights. Flex tails are not a new concept, the theory behind it makes full sense. Many tried flex tails in many different ways in the 80´s and 90´s but never made it work to full satisfaction and so they disappeared again. The main problem, apart from strength, being the fact that a flexible sheet of material can bend in various directions but only one way at a time. And when turning a board, you get more pressure at one side, often causing the flexing tail to twist off to one side rather than getting more rocker, causing the tail to loose grip rather than carve. The trick was to physically make the tail to bend in only one direction by making "hinges". This is done by cutting wedges out of the deck and filling them with rubber. Quite simple in principle, the inner build up needs to be thought through well. The strength has proven to be no issue at all, after one year practically exclusively sailing the flextail, also in on shore jumping conditions and by some heavier guys looping it, it´s still as new.
A flextail has a much bigger range of use, it planes earlier with a generally flatter static rocker, about 8mm less than I would make it with a fixed tail, and in a turn can get up to 2.5cm more rocker. Especially in a top turn with the aid of sail pressure you feel the tail flex and whip the board around super tight, a 94L flextail turns tighter than a normal 70L. And in bottom turns it´s very nice to either keep speed better with more front foot pressure or turn tight with more back foot pressure without feeling to have to force the board. It´s a dream board for spots where you can have decent waves even with light winds, where others are either not planing and have problems getting waves or can´t do much with a wave, you will be fully planing, first up wind and on a wave and turning super tight. Or for those who want to cover both side and on shore conditions with one board without any drawbacks in either conditions."

For the last 2 years we have been working on a new line of freestyle boards. The shapes are truely dedicated to high performance freestyle with short lengths to enhance pop and spinning around as easy as possible.

With enough demand we can also add an 86 and 118L model to the range.

The Full Custom Biax Carbon construction is super light yet stronger than most production freestyle boards. This construction is custom build up from high grade, light weight unidirectional carbon so we can lay the fibres exactly into the direction of the most common force. The fin boxes are our in in house made slot box type, molded directly into the board and using 4 screws to mount the fin. The new RTM fins weigh less then half of G10 fins.
