The Lüderitz Speed Challenge is now the PREMIER speed sailing event in the world for Windsurfers and Kitesurfers!

Flying (18th August) end of week to Lüderitz and start to prepare the channel!!! Excited!!!

Started to prepare the channel and set up the poles at the right coordinates!!! The channel will be longer at the starting and at the finish. Especially for windsurfers which need much more time to get to speed before the starting camera. As higher the speed at the entry the better average speed on 500m is achieved. So hopefully with the new channel the windsurfers will kick off at the starting camera with about 2knots more entry speed.

The channel has also a little change in the angle to the wind (of about 3-4 degrees). This will increase the optimal wind-angle-time on the water.

The wall, which is protecting the channel will be moved far from the channel, so there will be no wind turbulences in the channel and also less chop.

Simmer Speed Demon, shapées par Aurelio Verdi , il a designé une 43 de large qui fonctionne particulièrement bien sur les runs plutôt carrés, ainsi qu'une 40 de large qui est elle plus spécifique pour des angles de vent plus ouverts à l'image du spot de Lüderitz. Nous reverrons ces boards sur le Luderitz Speed Challenge sous les pieds notamment de Mikkel Asmussen, Farrel O'shea ou encore Zara Davis !

Le canal vient juste d'être fini et il n'y a pas encore le niveau d'eau suffisant....
Une semaine de retard.

Une semaine de passé, pourtant des conditions au top !!! aucunes infos, pas un FB ( a si... 3 photos du canal avec une pelleteuse et une final montrant un canal taillé à la serpe) , pas un tweet, pas de cérémonie d 'ouverture... nada quoi !!! ça me donne pas envie de faire comme les autres années

Luderitz Speed Challenge. Yesterday we had light and gusty wind conditions with about 25-30knots. But although Mio Anayama and Norio Asano set up National Japanese records.
For sure they will improve more with stronger winds. Mio with 35.75knots and Norio 40.23knots!!! Sebastien Cattelan did 48.45knots...

JPN-25 Noria Asano - National Record 43.95

FRA-69 Sebastien Cattelan - Best run 52.05
SA-321 Mark Grinnell - (one Panda test run) 44.14

Timed results from yesterday 26th October 2017 (still to be ratified by WSSRC) Mark Grinnell and Sebastien Cattelan where crazy enough to try it but it was to gusty!!! Later in the afternoon at 16:30 the riders started again with 40-50knots of wind...

Severne France. Bien arrivé sur l’épreuve du Luderitz Speed Challenge en Namibie, le néerlandais Twan Verseput Ned-127 prend ses marques sur le canal de vitesse équipé de ses voiles Severne Sails tout spécialement développées pour l’occasion en attendant le jour J !
